Troop Surge Working Already

Looks like the troop surge is working. Robert Kagan from the Washington Post reports that the early results are having a dramatic effect. Here's the link:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/09/AR2007030901839.html

It must be true because Kagan mentions that NBC's Brian Williams has reported the same thing in Ramadi and Brian never reports good news for Bush unless he can't spin it. I guess Brian's no Dan Rather.

Anyway, maybe that's why the Dem's are really getting desperate about bailing out.

This morning I saw Congresswoman Maxine Waters [D-Ca.] pitching her proposal for pulling out by the end of this year. Her rational seems to be to place the President behind the 8-ball. If he vetoes the bill he would have to face the American people and explain why and that would make him look bad.

I think Maxine, and Pelosi, her "boy" Murtha and the rest of the Dem's have their head in an uncomfortable position. Bush can't look any worse so why should he worry about it? If things continue this way and the surge works as advertised....Bush wins and the Republicans will look pretty good in '08.

That makes me wonder and in fact Kagan asks the same question: What do the Dem's have for a Plan "B". A couple of things came to mind:

They could:
(a) re-re-re-revisit the buildup to the Iraqi invasion and bash Bush for the next 18 months.
(b) make immigration the number one issue, replace blacks with hispanics and ride the hispanic vote for the next 40 years. Hold the presses...I think they're doing that already [sshhhh don't tell the CBC].

I guess that's enough for today,

Lights Out,

Mike
